Yoga Classes

Basic Beginners

The very poses in yoga that can benefit you are the same ones that can hurt you if done incorrectly. This class will lay the foundation for a safer, longer and more enjoyable yoga practice with a greater chance for success in receiving all the benefits yoga has to offer. Classes will focus on alignment based instruction with the use of props and correct yoga breathing instruction. Students will gain the knowledge needed to build a yoga foundation from the ground up safely and correctly. This class is a hot ticket for those just beginning their journey.

All Levels Yoga

The focus of All Levels Yoga is developing body awareness through breathing techniques, and correct alignment in various asanas (postures). Classes focus on teaching and refining yoga poses. Depending on the instructor, complex poses such as inversions, arm balances, and simple backbends might be included. Modifications are given if you are not yet at the level to do the full expression of the pose. This class is not recommended for new yoga students.

Vinyasa Flow

The term Vinyasa derives from "nyasa”, meaning “to place”, and “vi”, meaning “in a special way”. Vinyasa Flow classes connect one pose to another while moving mindfully with the breath, one pose per breath one breath per pose unless poses are held. Many options are offered in this mixed level flow class so varying levels of practitioners can move at their own levels and paces. Props such as yoga blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters are used to make each class accessible to beginner yoga students. This flow class will help you develop a better understanding of key, yet subtle components of advanced poses. A Yogitoe or some type of skidless mat is required for this class and are available to rent or to purchase in our boutique.

We also offer a Hot Vinyasa Yoga class for advanced beginners and intermediate or higher levels of practitioners set in a room heated to 99 degrees and 60% humidity.

Gentle Yoga

Our Gentle Yoga classes are designed where movement and poses are accessible to everyone. No need to feel intimidated and all are welcome! Learn what yoga is all about in a supportive, relaxing, and lighthearted environment. Class format is perfect for a gradual introduction to yoga and is specifically for the student who wants or needs a gentler yoga practice that will also relieve aches and pain associated with arthritis, general aches and pains from overuse or strain, increase strength, balance, flexibility, mobility and daily functional movement.

Hot Yin Yoga

Hot Yin Yoga consists of simple poses held for 5 to 10 minutes per pose. Holding poses longer, especially in a heated room, helps the body slowly melt into alignment with greater ease, thus allowing muscles to relax. Yin Yoga is mainly concerned with the ligaments and the tissue that holds bone to bone, encapsulates each joint, and contains the lubricating synovial fluid found wrapped around the spine, attached to the pelvis and the thigh bones.

Moving slowly and deliberately through a series of poses that address all joints and major muscle groups re-establishes natural body alignment that is often lost through modern day work and driving habits. This Yin practice is accessible to students of all skill levels, even new to yoga. Modifications will be available.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is suitable for beginners and practitioners of all levels. By definition, restorative yoga is a restful practice that holds yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga—the union of body and mind. Through the use of props for support, the postures are held almost effortlessly.

Restorative yoga is a restful practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. If you take a restorative class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures over the course of an hour.

Restorative yoga is a completely different experience than most other styles of yoga.

Pilates Core

Experience for yourself how Pilates can give you a strong and sculpted core. This Pilates class will focus on core exercises that engage your abdominal muscles in a strong but gentle way. The exercises are usually done in a specific order, one right after another. Like yoga, there is a strong emphasis on technique, concentration, and breathing. However, Pilates movements have different names than yoga poses, like "The 100”, “Criss-Cross”, “The "Elephant" and “The Swan”.

Although this class will focus primarily on the core, you will also use your arms, back, upper legs, and glutes to assist with core stabilization, which will tone and sculpt those muscles too. Another perk gained from this class is that the exercises will boost your flexibility and joint mobility, and keep you from getting stiff. You may also notice improved posture off of the mat, and a better sense of well-being, especially with Scarlett as your teacher. This class is accessible to all levels of students who want to have fun while strengthening their core.
